On a New Road

Spending a little time in IcelandWednesday September 8, 2010
I'm spending the week in Iceland, wandering the country with my sister, assorted cousins, and some folks from Skyrr. The countryside is spectacular. It is totally unlike anything I've ever seen anywhere else. Totally volcanic, the rules of geology here are just different. Weird structures. Moonscapes. Phenomenal waterfalls. Unexpected lushness. Lovely!

And don't forget your JavaOne/OpenWorld t-shirt! Since Ellison is showing his colors, show him yours!

Comments:

Maybe you already know but these 2 pictures have something wrong about h-scrolling on lightbox. I'm using firefox3 on macosx 10.6.4.

Thanks for sharing this picture. I will buy a mug for pens and a t-shirt, I will dress it in Italy during the OpenWorld.

Hey James! The more the times goes on, the more you look like Santa Claus! :-) Enjoy Iceland! Luigi.

James, Ellison can only quake and tremble at the sight of such a full and mighty beard. You have clearly soared high and above in the quality of facial hair and a man should be proud of such conquest. Leave the eye liner and shoe polish to Larry, his apparition is of such pale comparison as to be of almost no significance. P.S. I want a mug.

I have been thinking a lot about this whole ordeal with Java, Google, Oracle and developers in the middle. I would want James Gossling to think about starting something like a JCP that is not owned by a single for-profit corporation. Maybe something similar to the Linux Foundation can be made for java. Development, licensing and community process can be done by a non-profit foundation (or something like that.) This way not to allow any company to take control. The one thing that ruins FLOSS projects is greed.

Nice pic, good to note that your beard has grown back to full bloom since your operation :-)

Jon Thor had such a wonderful visit with his cousins that he had to call the other ones in Canada to share his joy.
