Peace breaks out?!?
Wow. The
press release
from Oracle and IBM is pretty vague, but it certainly gives the
impression that peace has broken out between the two. The JCP
logjam has been a huge problem for the last few years, despite many
attempts on Sun's part to make progress. When Sun was trying to do
this, the Oracle/IBM version of a solution effectively amounted to
Sun taking a vow of poverty. Does this break the logjam? Only time
will tell, but I'd sure be happy if it does. I'm sure that there's
a great backstory that will never come out.
