Reliable Multicast and 9/11

I managed to avoid most of the maudlin moaning and
jingoistic screaming
that took over the media last weekend for the 10th anniversary of
9/11. But I couldn't help thinking about Phil Rosenzweig, who was
on AA 11. He was a great guy and a valued coworker. He worked at
Sun on the east coast, so I didn't get to see him much, but we
traded a fair amount of email. He was a major force behind the
Java
Reliable Multicast API - that work took a huge hit when his
plane hit the world trade center. He is missed.
We built a little memorial to him at the Sun campus in Menlo
Park. It's now the new Facebook campus. So, folks at Facebook: take
care of it and think of Phil as you pass by.
